The Periodic Table

The Periodic Table was created by a Russian scientist Dmitri Mendeleev in 1869, and it is the visual display of chemical elements, in the groupings by their properties. The Periodic table consists of several groups- the alkali metals, the alkali earth metals, Lanthanides, Actinides, Transition Metals, Post- transition metals, Metalloids, Halogens, and Noble Gases. All of the elements want to be as similar as possible to the Noble Gases because they have a complete valence shell. All of the other elements are either trying to gain or to lose electrons to make their valance shells complete. In the Periodic Table, there are also some blank spaces, and these are for the elements that have not yet been created, or have been created but only lasted for several split seconds. Before Medeleev, there have been previous attempts to create something like this Periodic Tale, but were not a success. Also, everything is organized in periods, and groups. A group is a vertical column, while the period is a horizontal row on the table. The Periodic Table helps us categorize elements, and understand their properties better because of their classings.

Cell Parts Defined

Cell Membrane- Acts as barrier, not letting most molecules get into the cell.
Nucleus- Where the DNA is kept, and the RNA is transcribed. RNA is moved out of it through the nuclear pores, and the nucleus is referred to as the brain of the whole cell.
Nuclear Envelope- Separating the contents from the nucleus from the cytoplasm.
Nuclear Pore- RNA is moved through the nuclear pores to the rest of the cell.
Chromatin- The material of which the chromosomes of organisms other than bacteria.
Cytoplasm- All the contents outside the nucleus.
Mitochondrion- Main energy source of the cell, this is where the energy is created.
Golgi Complex- It processes and packages proteins inside of the cell.
Vacuole-Single membraned organelles of the cell.
Lysosome-Digestive system of the cell, breaks down molecules into digestive enzymes.
Ribosome-Found in the cytoplasm, this is where the RNA is transferred into proteins thorough a process called synthesis.
Endoplasmic Reticulum- Transport system for molecules.

3 Ways We Tried to Find Life In Space :-))

1.) One very old way that we have tried finding out if there is life on other planets is by sending an astronaut into space to observe everything that he possibly can, and to tell us if there are any signs of life on different planets. This has later evolved into the Hubble Space Telescope (without people) that takes pictures that scientist later analyze for any life. This way seems very basic to us today, but it was a desperate attempt to find life without very advanced technology.
2.) Later, we have also taken samples of the core on different surfaces, such as the moon, and other different planets, and tested them thoroughly in labs to see if there are is any living cell or organism on it.All of the samples were tested for DNA, and bacteria, to give us some clue if there might be something on that planet, or in outer space in general.
3.) People have also tried to search for evidence of any other life in the Bible. How ever strange this might sound, there is the belief that God, since he had already created life on Earth, might have done it elsewhere. Even though there was not a lot in the Bible, it does say "For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them.” This largely hints that  there might be something else out there to look for.

Superhero X-Ray Vision

Every Superhero has his own power, each being the indicator of his strength, power, and talents. Our superhero for today has the power of X-Ray vision, and his name is George. Ever since he was a little boy, he has been able to see through people and could see their bones and that has given him huge advantages in his life. At first, his amazing gift was underestimated, and not valued as it should be. People did not take him seriously, and did not believe that he really had a magic power, but thankfully, at one point, everything changed. When he was 10 and people understood that they could use him for a lot of good things and to make improvements, he immediately dropped school, and started working as a doctor and bone specialist. Everybody understood that his talent would help catch a lot of diseases people might have, and stop every bone problem from it’s core. X-rays are absorbed by bones, and make bright areas in X-ray images- this is also how his sight worked, but it was about 10000000 times more clear and effective.
One regular July day, everything was going by it’s regular path, people were regularly doing their work, and this day was not out of the regular. But, for one woman, this day was about to change her life. She was having knee pain for several years, and she had thought that she had done it all. She went to specialists around the world, surgeons, tried holistic medicine, and nothing was helping her. Also, she never knew what was really the issue with her knee, nobody could quite determine that- everybody saw the problem, and where it was, but nobody could see what was really wrong. Every specialist she went to did an X-ray, hoping to find an answer to the mystery, but all of them had the same answers in store- everything is blurry in the picture. Finally, as her knee was getting worse by the day, she heard of George, but could not believe it. She thought that nobody was able to work so well for no money and pay. But, she decided to go and see what he could offer her.
When she came to George’s office, the woman explained everything that was on her mind, and how frightened she was. George just took one quick glance at her knee, and knew the problem. He said that it was cancer at it’s starting stage. Since it was only a starting stage of cancer, you could not see it on the other machine X-rays, but George had an extremely clear view of everything, and determined the issue. The woman was able to treat this issue since it was discovered on time, and thanked George for using his extremely powerful and clear X-ray eyes to help her save her life, and for doing it out of the goodness of his heart.

The Doppler Effect

The technical definition for the Doppler Effect: " The Doppler effect is when sound waves are either compressed or elongated by an object moving toward or away from us. The waves get compressed on approach just as a train whistle seems to be a higher pitch as it comes toward you." Christian Doppler was the first person to study such an effect, especially in relation to sound waves. One example of this is by understanding the pitch of a noise or sound. The more frequent the sound wave is, the higher the pitch is. The Doppler Effect can also be described as some sort of illusion, because how the sound waves hit our eardrums depends on how close we are to the sound. So, for example, when an ambulance car passes and has an extremely loud siren, when the siren is closest to us, then the sound will be the most high pitched because the frequency is larger--so that is the Doppler Effect.
Here is a video on it! :-)) Enjoy!

The Importance of Electromagnetic Waves

Now, in the 21st century, electromagnetic waves are a very crucial part of our lives. Even though we are often not aware of how much they actually effect and influence our lives, electromagnetic waves enable easy communication and help us live our lives easier. In the 1860's and 1870's, James Clerk Maxwell who was a scientist from Scotland was the first one to notice that if you put electric and magnetic waves together, they are very powerful- creating electromagnetic waves. Electromagnetic waves are used by cell phones, computers, televisions, and even microwaves. They simplify our lives by letting us connect to people around the globe within second, and creating a whole "global village" that keeps the everyone in the world in touch with what is happening on the other side of them hemisphere. These waves make communication and news-spreading extremely fast and efficient. In the olden times, news took weeks, if not even months to travel, while now, you can send an email and get it delivered within seconds, or call somebody and spread the news right away. Electromagnetic waves also make our home life easier and more luxurious by enabling us to heat our food in microwaves  to heat up food(instead of making a fire) and let us relax and get information from television. Overall, electromagnetic waves have a major effect on our lives, even though we are often not aware of how much we actually rely on them :)
